Will there ever be a 38th Signal?
Those sneaky bastards have redesigned. I can’t believe I never saw a preview. Ahem.

I love it when know-nothing people decide that they know far better what Apple should do than Apple itself. Regarding the iPod:
1. Put a 40-GB hard drive in it so it would have been head and shoulders above its numerous competitors.
2. Added AirPort wireless connectivity to it.
3. Included digital video features.
4. Made it PC-compatible.
5. Sold it for at least half the price.
Right. And they didn’t do this out-of-this-world stuff because it absolutely isn’t possible to do all this for half the price AND keep it about the size of a deck of fucking cards. Jesus. They could have done this, sure. But you would have had to wait like 5 or 6 years for it all and by then who knows where things will be and the iPod would be regarded as behind still.
Not that it was the brightest thing to do, but definitely clever, CompUSA shopper catches teenager transferring copy of Office v.X to his iPod.

“There’s no way you could catch a terrorist. In fact, you’d be—while you were looking at some clown like me, the terrorist would go by.
This WWII Medal of Honor recipient definetly seems a likely terrorist. Keep up the good work airline security personel.
Not that it’s perfectly implemented, but I kind of like this agency’s navigation. How very David Small of them.
You’ll notice with the next survey (or this one if you’ve voted in the past 5 minutes) that we are using cookies to track voting. Apparently we have 6-year olds who enjoy being retarded viewing our site.
I had to ban some folks because I figured out who was loading up the survey with bad votes. But there are cookies in place now which will make that sort of thing a little harder but still not impossible. Should I un-ban them? Am I taking this too seriously?
Ahem. Rhetorical but I know the answers are both ‘yes.’
I wonder how this will affect album sales. I guess if you’re dumb enough to want that album, you’re dumb enough to buy it.
So while speculation has been plentiful about Flash MX and Flash 6 (MX for Mac, 6 for Windows), your trusty pals at Alternate have ‘received’ exlusive screenshots of the recently announced Flash MX Beta for MacOS X. Bask in its glory, my friends, even though A. Flash isn’t that cool and B. We really shouldn’t get that excited over the fact that MM has finally started paying attention to its UIs. But it’s interesting all the same. And before ThinkSecret or MOSR.
Fuck yeah! Adobe releases Photoshop 7 for Mac OS X, 9 and Win XP. About damn time.
Now all we (Mac OS X users) need is Flash MX.
I saw this today, Apple.SlashDot.Org, I dunno if this makes Apple an official part of the Unix crowd or Slashdot an offical sellout?
Anyone? Comments?

NY pictures, but Homepage kind of cropped out some of iPhoto’s captions. So some don’t make sense. Whatever.
…Will be up tonight, tomorrow at the latest.
We had a great time, got to see friends and some landmark-type stuff. Great food as always (except for maybe a little midnight White Castle run…). Tai got a $10 ‘Tag Heuer’ watch and I got a cool pen set from the MoMA. We hung out on the lower-east side a bit and hit a few bars the first night and I must say, Disco-house just isn’t my thang. C’est la vie.
As expected, navigation while downtown was a little hard, without certain twin-tower shaped compass points. It was very eerie to be in Battery Park and not have them towering above you. I took some shots of the empty airspace and to say that it’s sad is obviously a gross understatement.
I am and probably always will be a sucker for less-than-advertised tickets for Rent on Broadway. The Nederlander theater is such a cool place and Rent always puts a smile on my face. And I’m not retarded, I’m rhyming. Man.
I actually had more conversations with cab drivers this trip than I’ve had any other trips combined. Weird.
Security was hella thick and Laguardia had just stepped it up for our departure Sunday afternoon. Tai’s feet and shoes were searched and my things were thoroughly extrapolated from my bag. At least the guy had the decency to put it all back in. When I went to help him, he freaked out and said, “Dude, the FAA is right there…” and when I turned to look, I saw a man in fatigues with what looked to be some sort of machine gun. At least inside the terminal I felt safe.
So the trip was a success and New York for less than $500 total is always a pleasure.
